Bigger is not always better. Proof of that is evident at The Tasting Room - Uptown Park. Their Kobe Beef Sliders may be small in size, but they are big in so many ways. Served as a trio, each Kobe beef slider patty was cooked to perfection, nicely charred on the outside with succulent juices flowing from the middle. Savory caramelized onions and cheddar cheese atop the glistening brioche bun added nice flavor contrasts. The accompanying house french fries, dusted with parsley flakes, were crunchy on the outside and tender in the middle.What most people don’t know is that The Tasting Room has a wonderful chef-driven menu with exceptional food. I have known about their hamburger options for years, having enjoyed them while dining here with my “Burger Buddies”. Besides the Kobe beef sliders, a Tasting Room Burger is also offered. More of the same, but a larger version, the TTR Burger offers the same great taste. This version is jazzed up to include a pepper encrusted hamburger patty, which is a mixture of all beef short rib, brisket and chuck, on an onion challah bun. Talk about your flavor contrasts! Bite after bite, the burger selections at The Tasting Room are great examples of what a good hamburger experience should be.In the interest of full disclosure, as of November, I am employed by the Corporate entity who owns The Tasting Rooms (Uptown Park & City Centre) in Houston. Yet, as I said, my burger adventures have taken me to The Tasting Room for years, and now I get to enjoy them more often.
